Listed! – This Week – Favourite Lyrics

Welcome to the feature where every fortnight we will explore different topics that are listed in the book A List A Day by Paperchase. They range from food, music and travel to really random topics so I thought it wold be a fun one to talk about throughout the year!

Today’s Topic- Favourite Lyrics

I love songs and the one thing that I adore is a track that has really good lyrics, when I was in college I used to write down lyrics that I absolutely loved and even now I keep track of lines that stand out and I thought today it would be fun to share some of them with you today.

Lyrics are one of my favourite things in the world and I could write so many articles about words in songs that I find amazing. I love the way that lyrics are a form of expression and they can create so much emotion and stand out points in a track. There are a lot of lyrics that I could have spoken about, instead I have chosen a handful of them. I know that a lot of them are by the same bands or musicians but I have specific reasons for choosing these and here are the reasons why.

Dancing’s not a crime unless you do it without me .. – Dancing’s Not A Crime, Panic! At The Disco

I have always liked this lyric, I have no idea why but I have always found it very enjoyable. I love to dance to I think I like the fact that if there is dancing and I am not included I would be sad.

You look so Seattle but feel so LA – Irresistible, Fall Out Boy

I have always liked this lyric and I have no idea why, I don’t really know what it means but I have always enjoyed it as it feels sort of poetic. I am not sure if it is but I have always been a fan.

She’s dancing alone, I’m ready to go but she’s so, Lost in stereo, lost in stereo – All Time Low, Lost In Stereo

This is the song that got me into liking All Time Low and yet again it is lyrics that depict some sort of dancing. Again I like the poetic style of these lyrics and really enjoy them.

I can’t find the best in all of this, But I’m always looking out for you, ‘Cause you’re the one I miss, And it’s driving me crazy – After Midnight, Blink-182

I really love these lyrics to After Midnight, it is one of my favourite Blink tracks and I like the romance in the words. I find that this song paints a creative picture in your head that goes hand in hand with the music composition.

Tonight the headphones will deliver you the words that I can’t say – Homesick At Space Camp, Fall Out Boy

From the first day that I heard this track, these lyrics always stood out to me and I really liked them. I love the romantic side of them as well as the wording being so intricate to create this really in depth picture in just a few words.

I can’t take my eyes up off it, moving so phenomenally – Can’t Stop The Feeling, Justin Timberlake

I like lyrics when they use words you are not expecting and they end up working out really well and make the track very clever. This is not one of my favourite songs but I love the placement and the choice of using the word  phenomenally in this way.

I’m not afraid to keep on living, I am not afraid to walk this world alone – Famous Last Words, My Chemical Romance

I love the lyrics to this track, I chose the ones that stand out the most but I feel that the whole track is so inspirational. I think this is a fantastic song and love singing it really loud and passionately.

I’m not as think as you drunk I am – Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time, Panic! At The Disco

it is not my favourite Panic song but I really appreciate clever lyric writing and i really love how smart this particular line is. It is so fun to play with words and by swapping to words in the line it brings a whole ideology to the track,

I’m gonna change you like a remix, then I’ll raise you like a phoenix – The Phoenix, Fall Out Boy

With a discussion about lyrics it is only right that we include these lyrics because this website is actually named after these exact ones. I love this song and the reason I got inspired by these words was because I found them inspirational.
