Tell us about:
Your latest single you have released:
My latest single “On Your Knees” is a egotistical power trip song to get yourself hyped to. It’s about taking power back from people who have done you wrong and becoming an elevated version of yourself. We are the bosses of ourselves, no one else.
Your first single and how you felt when it was released:
The very first song I released was “The Birthday Song” this was a song I pretty much wrote for fun because I was angry about being in lockdown and needed to vent. And it felt amazing to release and put out my Pinkfiz artist into the world and from that song I knew I wanted to go even further and take on the world for real.
Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:
My favourite favourite album track is currently not out yet. But it’s called “Runaway Car” so I’d definitely look out for that in the future. The one that is out would be “Did I Ask?” from me EP The World Of Pinkfiz. It’s a song that I hold very close to my heart and it was the third song I wrote as Pinkfiz.
Your favourite song to play live:
I love playing “Pleaser” live even though it’s probably one of the more difficult ones. I feel like it’s also the song that sounds best live too. Something about the riffs and vocals live just work amazingly.
Your most emotional track:
I would say my newest single “On Your Knees” is the most emotional. Not in the sense of sadness but in the sense that it has the biggest range of emotion compared to my other songs. There are hints of sadness in the lyrics if you delve deeper, the description of mistreatment is quite emotional but then the anger about it all is so strong that I’d have to list it as the most emotional track.
The best lyric you have ever written:
“Just dry your eyes and take the picture” from “Pleaser”
Lyrically not incredibly clever but I think it says a lot about social media and that the person behind the screen isn’t always doing as well as it appears through their photos. It’s a line that I think calls out the toxic and dangerous lies and impossible standards that are promoted to people.
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
It’s always nerve wracking walking on stage to do a show and I have only played a small number of shows so far but the anticipation is always the worst part. Once I’m actually on the stage it feels like I’m on top of the world.
The hardest track to play live:
Either “Pleaser” or “Did I Ask”. “Pleaser” because of the tempo change towards the end and “Did I Ask” because playing the fast guitar chord changes and singing is quite difficult sometimes.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
I haven’t been lucky enough to go on tour yet but I can’t imagine touring without my Nintendo Switch.
Describe your fans in three words:
Powerful, badass, loving.
A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:
Serotonin by girl in red. I think she perfectly captures how it feels to have depression and deal with mental health issues and it speaks to me in such a personal way that I wish I wrote it.
What we can look forward to from your band this year:
More new singles coming soon and a behind the scenes video of “On Your Knees” on the way.
