Angel – Shaggy feat Rayvon
Today we are looking at a track that I completely forgot existed until it popped up on my television on a music channel the other day. It is a track that samples a variety of other songs as well and even has additional vocals by another artist. Today we look at the track Angel by Shaggy.
Angel was released on the 9th January 2001, it is a track that samples the Steve Miller Band’s track The Joker and Chip Taylor Angel of the Morning. The single was released under the record label of MCA and produced by Shaun “Sting” Pizzonia. As well as having Shaggy on the track, the chorus is sung by Rayvon. The single was the follow up track to the huge hit It Wasn’t Me and featured on the album Hot Shot.
The single did incredibly well in the charts worldwide and went to number one in many countries including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands Norway, Portugal, Sweden, US and Scotland just to name a few.In the United Kingdom the single went in straight at number one and was the position of number 8 in the year end charts. The song has sold approximately 620,000 units in the United Kingdom and has a Gold certification.
Even though it has been years since I have heard this track, I was so surprised that I was able to still remember all the lyrics. It is so weird when that happens, whilst it is not one of my favourite Shaggy tracks, it was still nice to hear it again.
