Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.
POTATO DONUTS
Today we are going to do something different and instead of looking at one particular product we are going to look at a whole store. In Portland in Maine there is a donut shop that is known for making its products out of potato instead of traditional yeast and cake mixtures.
The Hole Donut was founded by Jim Neuger Leigh Kellis, the shop is open every day from 6.30am and closes at 4pm. It is located at 194 Park Ave in Portland. The location has many different flavours on offer including Maple, Triple Berry, Honey Lavender, Cinnamon Sugar, Toasted Coconut, Coffee Cake and Bacon Cheddar just to name a few.
The Holy Donut has raving reviews with many people praising them for being the best donuts around. The staff are also very friendly and people travel far just to try them.
