Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – The Gold Supply

Tell Us about:

Your latest single you have released:

Our EP “Open Lines” is released today so we have released a single from that EP called “Never The Same Again”. It’s a song about the inside of your head.  You know that fight you have with yourself about whether you’re doing well, or whether you’re doing badly, whether you’re happy or whether you’re bored.  That.  That’s what this song is about.  The lyric “am I loved in here or am I lost in here” is asking how you feel about yourself in your head.

Your first single and how you felt when it was released:

Actually “Never The Same Again” is our first ever single!  We made some demo’s back in September 2021 and then signed to the record label in December and now our EP is about to be released! It seems to have gone very fast.

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

Our favourite track is “No Addictions”, it seems to capture everything that we want to be as a band!  It’s a bit weird, a bit dark,  it has light and heavy elements and people really seem to connect to it.

Your favourite song to play live:

Our favourite song to play live is “Last Few Days”.  It sounds so good but is quite easy to play so we don’t have to concentrate to hard!!

Your most emotional track:

On our demo tape we had a song called “Completely Underwater” which is a song about depression and the impact of suicide on friends and family.  It’s very dark but it was written because we have experience of that and it’s a song that means a lot to us.

The best lyric you have ever written:

We’re really proud of our lyrics!  They’re not throw-away lines, we spend a lot of time on them and they all mean something to us.  If I had to pick one it would be from the song on our EP called “Let It Go” and the lyric is “in daylight it’s better, you can hold yourself together” and it is part of a story describing how so many people are having to project a false image to other people when it actual fact, it’s a massive struggle.

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

Well it’s always a mixture of excitement and pride.  We’ve put absolutely everything in to creating and making these songs and so it is always a great honour to play them to people.

The hardest track to play live:

The hardest song for me (Lena – Singer) is “No Addictions” as the lyrics are a mixture of Polish and English and it’s quite hard to switch mid-song!   Also, musically it is quite tricky from a timing perspective but when we get it right it sounds huge!

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

Oh my god, so many essential items!!  Actually we’re all pretty laid back.  I think I can survive anything with some Dark Chocolate and some Headphones.

Describe your fans in three words:

Loyal, Passionate, Cool

A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:

“French Disco” by Stereolab

What we can look forward to from your band this year:

Our EP “Open Lines” is released today and then we will be playing gigs all summer!  Come and see us!
