Ugly – Sugababes
Today we look at a track that was released by the second line up of the band Sugababes, it is a song that I only remembered they released when I heard it for the first time in years the other day. It was a track that was a lot slower then some of their others and also was a song about personality and body image issues.
Ugly was released 5th December 2005, it was both written and produced by Dallas Austin and was released under the record label of Island. The inspiration for the track was the negative comments that had been published about the band and the lyrics delve into the themes of body image and personalities. The track was off of their fourth studio album called Taller In More Ways which was also released in 2005. The song was used in assemblies in schools in Wales as part of the Commission for Racial Equality Croeso Initiative.
The track did well in he charts, it went to number 3 in the UK Charts and into the top 10 in Scotland (4), Norward (9), New Zealand (5), Netherlands (7), Ireland (7), Hungary (7), Finland (8), Denmark (3 ) and Belgium (8)
