Taste Of States – This Week – Oreo Kettle Corn

Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.

OREO KETTLE CORN

There are so many flavours of Oreos that means that when we get a week discussing one of them it can always be very fun as a lot of these types are not available in the United Kingdom. Today we are looking flavour that is really unique and definitely something different.

In May of 2018, Oreo released a competition where fans of the cookie could enter by creating new flavours and then the final three were chosen and announced as the three finalists. The final three were Pina Colada, Cherry Cola and Kettle Corn. OK, so I feel it is only right that I tell you now that the winner was the Cherry Cola Flavour which was dreamed up by Eden of Winnetka, California. Today though we will look in depth at the Kettle Corn flavour and explore that one at a different time.

Even though the Kettle Corn flavour did not win it was available to buy for a limited time. The Oreo was a the golden Oreo cookie and in the middle was a creme that was flavoured to taste like the corn with tiny pieces scattered throughout.

Even though this flavour did not win the competition, they have got really impressive reviews online with people praising the taste, saying they are similar to other flavours that have come before.
