Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Imogen Mahdavi

Tell Us about:

Your latest single you have released:

It’s about unrequited love, we’ve all been there unfortunately! I wrote it during a period of loneliness when you crave the person you used to be close to.

Your first single and how you felt when it was released:

Doormat Darling was my first single. I was so nervous but the response was so beautiful. I’d spent so long discovering who I was as an artist writing…I still am, but it felt like I’d finally started to crack the shell.

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

You&I off my debut EP Staring At The Sun is a hidden gem for me.

Your favourite song to play live:

Late Night Calls gets me dancing and being an artist who creates quite peaceful stuff it’s always fun to shake that off and absorb the energy of a space!

Your most emotional track:

It’s one I’ll be releasing one day soon I hope. It’s called I Don’t Want To Be Strong. It’s about how we unfortunately only learn through hardship how to become stronger and how I wish that wasn’t the only way to grow.

The best lyric you have ever written:

I’ll be running up to that peak and when I get there I’ll be thinking it’s only downhill now. Running up to that peak and when I get there I’ll be leaving half way in and halfway out.

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

Grateful nervous and excited. I’m always eager to get on straight away, I get impatient haha.

The hardest track to play live:

Whatever memories connect that evening. If I relate to the memories of a particular one it changes on the night. Currently Echo is tricky because I wrote it recently about something ending in my personal life.

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

I’m pretty low maintenance to be honest, my water bottle, a big coat because I’m always cold lol, and my charger cause I write all my song ideas on my phone.

Describe your fans in three words:

Kind, supportive, sensitive (in the best and most beautiful way).

A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:

Radio by Lana Del Rey. Gosh to to sing that to someone how hurt or didn’t support you whilst headlining Glastonbury would be fun haha “Love me cause I’m playing on the radio…how do you like me nowwwww” I always wanna add “Bitch” on the end of that lyric, it’s fits the timing haha!

What we can look forward to from your band this year:

More visuals, more music videos, more crying lol.
