Tell Us about:
Your latest single you have released:
‘Better!’ is a reckless, head-long dive into an uncertain, hopeful future. It’s about letting go of fear and inhibition to romp across the world at your feet. Y’know, ‘F*#$ it’.
Your first single and how you felt when it was released:
Endless Run was the first of a bunch of material already in the works. Leading up to its release felt like walking through deserted snow fields, aware of my destination but also its distance from me. The day of release was a rush of warm air, the sound of excited voices when the cabin door finally opened.
Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:
Probably Golden Boy.
Your favourite song to play live:
Probably Golden Boy again – it’s that first wave of ghostly horns for me.
Your most emotional track:
Ordinary, mostly because the recording is in essentially the same state as the day it was written. The only thing better than being in the moment in the studio is being in the moment itself.
The best lyric you have ever written:
“Let it all dissolve, let it all become crumbling stone, let it all erode, into meaningless dust and salt.”
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
It’s like coming home.
The hardest track to play live:
Good question! The one that takes the most thought is probably ‘Better!’ Nothing’s that hard, but I always find pedal-dancing while singing a bit of extra fun.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
I ALWAYS forget water. I ALWAYS regret it.
Describe your fans in three words:
Dependable inspiring legends.
A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:
Right now, ’Summerland’ by half•alive is really doing things for me. Good clean goodness.
What we can look forward to from your band this year:
My ‘Coalesce’ EP released just now! Check it out. After that… well… more of that!
