The one thing I love about music is that everyone has their own story to tell – the musician, the lyrics, the way the fans decipher them and also the way a song can also create a memory or a meaning to someone. That is what this new article is all about. Each fortnight, we will take a look at a different song and I will take you as a trip down memory lane as to what it means to me. Welcome to Music Memories.
Track: Now You’re Gone
Original Release Date: 31st December 2007
If there is one track that can really define the first year of university then it is a song by Basshunter called Now You’re Gone, It was a track that was everywhere and it was a song that reminds me f my first house that I had at University.
I was placed in a University house with two girls I had nothing in common with. For the first 5 months they did everything together, they even had boyfriends in the same house, so technically I had a house to myself which was great because one of the girls I really didn’t like as she was passive aggressive and horrible.
Thn around Valentines day, the one that I got on with, her boyfriend broke up with her and she took it really badly. It was at this point we became friends as she also fell out with the other girl as well. I would always cook us both dinner so that she would eat and we would go on the odd nights out together as well. There was always one song that we would play before we went on a night out – Basshunter.
Whether we were going out together or with other friends, while we were getting ready we would put this track on and jump about to it. Now You’re Gone was such a catchy track that it was always incredibly uplifting and got us in the mood for a good night out.
I always really liked the bass to it and the beat that goes with it. The track always put a smile on my face when it comes on. I loved the musical interlude parts as well.
I may not of been a fan of my first housemates at university but like everything music brought the two of us together with a connection,
