Tell us about:
Your latest single you have released:
I wrote The Day We Met about wishing I said something but unfortunately I didn’t so it was left in the dark. It was originally a sad ballad written on the piano but I wanted people to dance to it so when I went in the studio I said let’s change the pace and make this a super poppy track.
Your first single and how you felt when it was released:
My first single ever release was called “Don’t Wanna Know” and I remember feeling like you know things are possible, like I could really be doing this. I was so new to the industry and wasn’t aware of how it works but you learn the most going through it as an independent artist. I remember feeling overwhelmed with the reaction and also really hopeful as well as vulnerable because I had put my story out there for people.
Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:
I would say my favourite song in the upcoming album is the song called 21. It’s really one of those songs you write in a moment of anger haha. It all started with a text and yeah, I went into the studio and then we created 21. I can’t wait for people to hear it!
Your favourite song to play live:
My favourite song to play live is Necklace because I can see people getting emotional and singing along with me. It really is such an amazing feeling!!
Your most emotional track:
Necklace! It’s a song I wrote from the bottom of my heart instead of sending an ‘I miss you’ text. It really is my most vulnerable song so far I would say.
The best lyric you have ever written:
“I’m a snowball melting in the heat of it all”, I think there are many but I would say particularly that one. It is a parallel and really the way most people see me. I would come across really cold but I’m actually a super emotional soft person. I think it was the perfect way of describing what I was going through at that point in time, when I wrote the line. Just this human acting like nothing is wrong and like it doesn’t bother them at all but actually underneath you’re barely holding everything together.
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
Erm, it’s literally everything I’ve ever wanted since I was a kid! It’s so exciting and amazing and I’m in love with people singing the words back to me! I used to get nervous but the more I did it the more I learnt that actually we are all just singing our hearts out and having fun.
The hardest track to play live:
Hmm, I would say it would probably be this song on the album called Vain. It’a another emotional ballad and I feel like it would take a lot out of someone to switch from full pop to a full on ballad.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
I’ve never been on tour but I am dying to go! I would say essential ‘items’ class as my band obviously haha, and I would absolutely love to take my friends. But talking about real items, my disposable camera and my notepad and a pen so I can write down any ideas that pop into my head. My guitar also. It comes everywhere with me!
Describe your fans in three words:
loyal, energetic, fun
A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:
All Too Well by Taylor Swift. Do I even need to explain why haha? It’s the best song ever written in the history of music.
What we can look forward to from your band this year:
I am releasing an album and I am super excited for people to hear! Expect a lot of gigs !!
