Forgotten Songs! – This Week – Alfie

There are so many songs that are out there everywhere then all of a sudden they disappear and you only hear from them very rarely that they can create a sense of nostalgic for you, the listener. So roll up and welcome to Forgotten Songs where we celebrate these forgotten wonders.

Alfie – Lily Allen

Today we look at a single that was released by musician Lily Allen that was actually a song talking about her younger brother, criticising him of laziness in his early twenties.

Alfie was released 5th March 2007 it was written by Lily Allen and Greg Kurstin and was released under the record labels of Regal Festival and Warner Brothers. The single was the fourth track to be released from her debut album Alright, Still.

The single is based on the genre of Ska and was written at a time when Alfie was not famous and known for his acting. In 2019, she stated that she is no longer performing or promoting the song in respect of her brother.

The song went to number 15 in the UK singles chart. The music video that went with it has a puppet like feel and was based on the cartoon Tom and Jerry.
