Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Stonebrother

Tell us about:

Your latest single you have released:

Zach: It’s an upcoming single called ‘Preach’, will be released soon on all major streaming services.

Your first single and how you felt when it was released:

Ethan: We haven’t really released any “singles”, the first thing we ever put out was the First Things First EP. Listening to it now I can hear what could have been done better in the way of production, however when it was first released I could look past how rough it sounds purely because we were all so proud of the songs and the fact that we had officially recorded and released music into the world. It was an amazing feeling, and one that comes back every time we release anything.

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

Leo: For me, it’s Problem Child. It seemed like everything just came together on the recording and it came out amazing.

Your favourite song to play live:

Zach: An original song called ‘Cold Day in Hell’, it’s my favorite song that we’ve written to date. It just came together so well. It will also be released as a single later in the year.

Your most emotional track:

Ethan: Our most emotional track is probably Travelling Man from our First Things First demo. Zach wrote it as the grad song when he graduated high school, so it’s full of passion.

The best lyric you have ever written:

Leo: “If you’ve got a problem say it to my face, you’re what’s wrong with the human race”

or

“I’m a 5150 with an appetite for destruction”

or

“To argue is to speak to those who are wrong,

In society’s swan song”

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

Zach: Best thing ever. You’re just thinking about the next hour or 45 minutes or however long the set is, you can’t think about anything else that’s going on in your life. It’s very exciting.

The hardest track to play live:

Ethan: The hardest track for us to play live is our upcoming single Faceless. It starts pretty slow and simple, but near the end we sort of go nuts with it, and as crazy as the recording is, we go about ten times harder in show.

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

Leo: Usually my bass. Hard to play without it.

Describe your fans in three words:

Zach: Fun, exciting, energetic.

A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:

Ethan: From a technical perspective Dream Theatre’s “Dance Of Eternity”. From a songwriting perspective, however, I’d say Billy Talent’s “Pins And Needles”. It’s such a heartfelt song but also a really good rock jam. Pretty much anything you’d ever want.

What we can look forward to from your band this year:

Leo: A music video for Problem Child and possibly some gigs upcoming!
