I am keeping a diary of tracks throughout the month that stand out to me so that I can put these selected tracks into an article for you! Here is this months hitlist

1/2/22 – When I’m Gone, Alesso and Katy Perry

I came across this song back in January when Katy Perry was teasing up the fact that the music video was going to be released at the same time as the NFL. I wasn’t sure at first if I liked it but it is one of those songs that the more you listen to it, the more you enjoy it.

4/2/22 – Everything’s Electric, Liam Gallagher

I am a big fan of Oasis and also a really enjoy Liam’s solo music, so when it was announced that his new track was being released I had to listen to it and it really did live up to expectations, it is a really fun track and brings an essence of Oasis that I both love and miss.

5/2/22Emo Girl, Machine Gun Kelly, Willow Smith

I find that since Machine Gun Kelly has started to team up with Travis Barker, his music has been something that I find interesting to listen to. As for Willow Smith, I have tried for years to like her music and I just can’t seem to connect with it. This song is one that I can say is starting to grow on me and it is nice to finally have an excuse to listen to a Willow Smith song.

7/2/22 – Cali Sun, Ocean Grove

I was listening to random playlists again on Spotify and came across this track by Ocean Grove and it is really catchy that it has ended up being added to all my regular circulations. It is a fun little track, catchy and has an uplifting sound to it. It is a great track to have split up a playlist. It has a real nineties feel about this song as well.

8/2/22 – My Love Don’t Cost A Thing, Jennifer Lopez

I started to watch The Wedding Planner as I was having issues sleeping and this song was on the soundtrack for the credits. I forgot that this was part of the film and it was really fun to hear it after all this time as it has been a while since I last heard it. In regards to the film, it may be super cheesy but I still enjoyed it all these years later.

11/2/22 – The Day We Caught The Train, Ocean Colour Scene

I had music in the background one day with family and this song came on and realised I had not heard this song since I was a child. It is so weird when you hear a song that you didn’t really pay attention to when you were younger and then you hear it all these years later, it is so weird but also quite nice. Also, I never realised that this song had such a random name, no wonder why I wouldn’t remember it!

12/2/22 – Piano Man, Billy Joel

This is another song that I head for the first time in ages over this weekend, it is one that I used in the lockdown for the piano but since then I had not heard it. I really like the piano interludes in this song as it is catchy and really relaxing at the same time as well.

13/2/22 – The Living Years, Mike and the Mechanics

This is a song that I hardly hear and when I do it sort of takes me on a nostalgia trip, I have no idea as I wasn’t alive when it was released but I remember hearing this song a lot as a kid. I think since then only heard it a handful of times and came across it again on the 13th, it is a nice little song and full of emotion. I only discovered whilst writing this that this was a supergroup which I never knew before.

14/2/22 – Flip Me Upside Down, The Wombats

This is a track that constantly appears on my playlists and I always have to check who it is singing as it is a really catchy track. I think for me, this is one of my favourites of the newer tracks from The Wombats and the one that I connect to as close as I did with Moving To New York and Dance To Joy Division. It is a really catchy track that is toe tapping.

16/2/22 – The Joker And The Queen, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift

This came on my headphones as I was listening to some music and didn’t even realise that I had actually added it to a playlist. It is a really nice song and it is nice to see the friends doing a duet again, it is still a slow track but it is in a different style to the first one that they did. Also, the music video features the two original actors that were in the first music video.

18/2/22 – Projector, Set It Off

Set It Off are a band that I always like their songs, I don’t listen to them too much but whenever their songs come on I am always heading to my Spotify to find out who is singing the song I am enjoying. This is one of those tracks that i just described. It is really catchy and has a good beat that it is hard not to like it.

19/2/22 – KULT, Stece Aoki, Grandson, Jasiah

I like looking at new music releases and this song popped up and I instantly liked it as it was so unusual and had a great dance great to it. The more songs I hear with Grandson, the more I like their music because its so different to s lot of musicians out there. This track is upbeat, has a great drop and is just really good.

23/2/22 – Iron Man 3 Title Track

I haven’t heard the main song for Iron Man 3 in years and this came on the other day and it was a joy to hear. It is punchy, catchy and brings back all those reasons why Iron Man was a great character.

24/2/22 – All I Wanted – Avril Lavigne, Mark Hoppus

This is the day that Avril released yet new album, her first to be on Travis Barkers record label. The first song that I sent to listen to first was the collaboration with Mark Hoppus as it was lovely to see that he was appearing on music after his cancer treatment. Its a fun little song that sits nicely on her album.

25/2/22 Isn’t it a lovely day (to be caught in the Rain) – Fred Astaire

This is a lovely little track that I was introduced to the other day and is now on one of my playlists, it is a great song and sounds like the golden age of Hollywood.
