Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Amaya Santos

Tell us about:

Your latest single you have released:

Carousel was originally inspired by my friend who was in a relationship that was a bit unstable. She was dating someone but they were constantly arguing, breaking up and getting back together like nothing happened. It made me reflect not only on amorous relationships but on my overall relationships with other people and how sometimes we fail to distinguish the never ending cycles of unhealthy friendships or remain in one sided relationships.

Your first single and how you felt when it was released:

The first single I released is called “Run” and I felt very proud and excited when it was released. I was a bit nervous as well about the response it would receive but was very happy to see the love and support from all my listeners

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

“Late night thoughts” has a very special place in my heart. It was the first song I wrote and was actually meant to be my first single however I wanted to make sure everything was perfect and therefore ended up releasing run first.

Your favourite song to play live:

“HMD (Hold Me Down)”! It’s always so fun to perform it.  I love to dance and it always gets everyone up and energized!

Your most emotional track:

”Fool” it has not been released yet so keep an eye out for it. I started working on this song for my EP and I can’t wait to share it with everyone

The best lyric you have ever written:

That’s a hard one! I write all of my music and every song I write I hope to be better than the last. At the moment I will say Carousel

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

It’s really an incredible feeling! I’m usually very shy but as soon as I start singing I just feel free and confident. I feel like it’s where I belong.

The hardest track to play live:

My favorite to play live is also the hardest. HMD can be a bit hard to play live because I start dancing and moving around which makes it hard for me to catch a breath.

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

I haven’t gone on tour yet but when I have performances I always make sure to bring my laptop, Honey, Liquid IV hydration packs and comfortable shoes to change out of after my performance

Describe your fans in three words:

Sweet, Amazing and Supportive; I love interacting with them on Instagram and meeting them at my concerts, to me they are like my friends.
