A new year means there are lots of new and exciting shows, music, albums, comedy and much around the corner and we have an exciting month for you! In true Phoenix Remix tradition we are chatting to lots of different acts all about what they have in store for 2022. The act that is leading the way in this months feature is musical improv troupe Acaprov. They have a very exciting year in store for the troupe including new members who are also going to there to enjoy the ride. All month I have a very special exclusive interview with the band to talk all things improv. This week we have our Quick Fire question round with Director and founder Lisa Lynn.
The movie or television show you are looking forward to seeing this year?
Encanto and Hamilton monthly if not weekly as usual.
Secrets – Season 2: Swiss Secrets, as it stars one of my best friends.
Temple for the same reason.
The Power, as it stars one of my acting students from my first year of teaching secondary school Drama to support my acting. TikTikBOOM at the cinema more LMM GOLD
Your favourite book?
I go between: The complete works of Shakespeare, This spot on my bum (a poetry book) and At left brain turn right (Anthony Meindel). Though I did just buy TJ and Dave’s book – Improvisation at the Speed of Light, and Deborah Frances White’s book – The Guilty Feminist, and I have high hopes!
If you could paint anything what would you paint?
A giant group portrait/mural of all of my family and friends all wearing really bright colours and living their best lives…dancing…on a beach…below the stars
What is the most delightful word you can think of?
Sa – it is what my 2 year old niece calls me
Too many. Though at the moment I am listening to Buried (The Musical) a lot – I would LOVE to do that show
Where would you love to go on holiday this year?
Less holiday more work, but if I can get a visa I would LOVE to perform in New York this year (then throw Chicago, Texas, Baltimore, Vegas and Canada in there for good luck! (Perform in person with everyone in the USA I performed with online in 2020, plus Canada just seems lush)
What is your favourite quote from a television show?
‘And what are you a sheep?’ (Mulan, 1998) closely followed by ‘Dishonour on you, dishonour on your cow’ (also Mulan 1998) – I quote Mushu (the dragon/protector in Mulan) a lot!
Who is your favourite film character and why?
You might think Mushu given the amount I quote. But I would have to say…Poppy the Troll. She works hard, she’s not had it easy, but she brings the joy, she admits when she is wrong, she sings and dances and hugs people ALL the time, she would do ANYTHING for her family and friends and what she believes in, and she never gives up! #MyHero
She is also magenta #Acaprov
