Tell Us about:
Your latest single you have released:
Change the World is an anthem for positivity and a call to end the negativity and division that is affecting our world today. The whole concept is that if we can work on becoming better people on an individual level, then we can cause a ripple effect to be better to others that we run into on our daily lives and inevitably how it will affect people around the world. It’s about remembering the things that our parents taught us about respect and inclusion, bringing that into how we treat people.
Your first single and how you felt when it was released:
“Song for You” was our first single, and it was a great sense of accomplishment knowing that we were putting positive music out there and that it was resonating with people.
Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:
“Don’t Take it Away” is a really fun one. It’s a funky jam that you can dance to and just has a great groove.
Your favourite song to play live:
All of them! There’s no better feeling than playing a song that you’ve written and watching a crowd dance and sing along to it. They’re all very special and it’s hard to choose a favorite, so I’ll just say that it’s a blessing to be able to play our original music and watch people have a good time with it.
Your most emotional track:
“Taking You Home” is a great ballad and reminds me of an old soul record. Something that Otis Redding or Sam Cooke might sing.
The best lyric you have ever written:
“I’ve charmed snakes and I’ve fought liars, but they ain’t ever stomped out my fire…my star shines brighter, my flame burns higher…baby, tell ’em who I am…Hot Damn, I’m the man…”
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
Oh man. It’s like the butterflies that you feel when going in for a first kiss or asking a crush out on a date. There are all of these nerves going through you but also this intense confidence, and if it goes well, you know it’s going to feel amazing. And, even if it doesn’t go well, at least you had the balls to put yourself out there.
The hardest track to play live:
“Star”…it’s a new song coming out in December and it’s got a lot of moving pieces and is very funky. Looking forward to finally releasing it, as we’ve been playing it a lot live and getting a great response.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
Toothbrush, tooth paste, deodorant. A lot of black T-shirts. Underwear. If you’ve got that, you should be pretty good.
Describe your fans in three words:
Passionate, soulful, eclectic.
A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:
Bring it on Home by Sam Cooke, or Long Train Running by Doobie Brothers
What we can look forward to from your band this year:
A ton of new music and as much touring as we can handle. Really excited for everything that 2022 is going to bring us.
