In The Games Corner – MEMORY CARD EDITION – The Horror Of Harry Potter And The Philosophers Stone

Welcome to the sister article to In The Games Corner that is about computer games but with a different spin. I have been playing computer games from a very young age and I find that some games when I think of them are attached to very strong memories. So, I thought it would be fun to share memories that I have attached to some of these games as there are a few. I wanted to call this feature Memory Card because a lot of my memories that i have strongly are around the Playstation 1 and there will be a few around that particular card. Today we take a look at Harry Potter And The Philosophers Stone.

I don’t know if you remember back as far as the first ever Harry Potter game on the Playstation 1 but I do because I had it and bought all games in the franchise and it amazing how much they have developed. The first game however, is one that will always stick in your mind because it was so bad and pretty difficult.

The first thing you will notice if you Google the game now is that the graphics were terrible. The faces looked weird, everyone had very cube like heads and they were not looking great. To be honest, I cannot even remember if these were actually good graphics at the time.

The story follows the same as the film and you learn skills and explore the world, although I vaguely remember this one being more like a platform game, the free exploration of the castle appeared in the later games on the Playstation 2.

There were parts of the game that were incredibly hard and I will never forget the ride game where you had to do this to enter Gringotts bank volts. It was hard to control the cart and you could only pass on when you had a certain amount of coins which was so frustrating.

I will always remember this game as slightly disappointing but the ones after made up for it.
