Welcome to a feature that will be published every other week. I go to a lot of gigs and there are always little stories that come out of them that I always want to tell someone so what better place to do it!
How Live Music Changed My Views on Kasabian
I never liked Kasabian, a bold statement to start an article with but it is true. I found their music annoying and never made any effort to properly listen to them, When I was at University I had a housemate that was the complete opposite – she loved them and when they came to town she desperately wanted to see them. I had no interest but she asked me to come along as she knew that I loved concerts and even though I was not a fan, I agreed.
The venue was packed – not just with one age group but every age – all raring to go and really excited to see the band. When the band did come on to the stage, the room erupted – it was absolutely mental and the energy was absolutely infectious.
One thing that was obvious from the get go was that Kasabian was phenomenal live, so much so it completely changed my perspective on them as a band and made me become an instant fan. They just knew how to work a stage and bring on the entertainment. The stage had a great border around it that was digital an it changed every song and just brought the show to life and gave this incredible stage presence.
From that one experience, I learnt to see bands live before judging, which is what I thought of and did with YUNGBLUD.
