Welcome to a feature that will be published every other week. I go to a lot of gigs and there are always little stories that come out of them that I always want to tell someone so what better place to do it!
Todays Gig: A Pleasant Evening With Will Young
One of my friends had a spare ticket to a Will Young concert and asked me if I wanted to go along with them and I instantly said yes. It was around 2008 and I really liked his music so was excited that I had this opportunity to go and see him live. He had released some really great albums that to see him live I felt would be good fun, I was a fan of him when he was in Pop Idol so I thought seeing him live would be very fun as I knew he could sing live.
In the venue we were in the first row of the balcony so we had quite a good view of the stage. From what I remember (which sadly isn’t a lot) it was a very good concert and he could sing really well. I have videos and photos of the gig but they are such bad quality but I can hear his voice which I think is at least something!
There is one thing that I remember vividly though and that was the merchandise. It was the first gig (and come to think of it, only gig) I have ever been to where there was tea cups and saucers available at the merchandise table. They have a photo of Will Young on them and they were so random, he even made jokes about them in his show.
Whilst I may not have any good footage, it was a great experience and I loved every second of it.
