Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Reaven

Tell us about:

Your latest single you have released:

“Our latest single released was “Escape”. The song was created during the quarantine, in the middle of the night. We wanted to express through music and a (homemade) music video the struggle we’ve been all living during the quarantine. For some people, it was a physical struggle, the fact of being locked up in small spaces.

For others, it was a psychological fight. We all need to escape reality a bit from time to time. Especially when daily life is getting complicated. This song reflects what we felt during this period.  Tough moments, good moments.”

Your first single and how you felt when it was released:

“Our very first single under the name Reaven was “Unbreakable”. It was an important release for us since it was the first under our new band’s name. It felt good to begin a new story, to bring something different that what we’ve done in the past.”

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

“My favourite song created will be in the next upcoming album, and it’s a song called “For Tomorrow Song”. This is kinda of a hymn more than a song. It’s a song that I wrote quite a long time ago when I was spending vacation in Italy. It’s talking about benevolence, future, hope and to me it’s a real invitation to travel and escape reality.”

Your favourite song to play live:

“I love to play a song from our next album (an unpublished one) called “Hold me close”. It’s a heavy rock track, and I have kinda an animal sensation, or physical vibes when I play this one. Pure instinct.”

Your most emotional track:

“I think it would be a song from the next album as well, called “Brother in Life”. It’s a song that I wrote for my drummer and about the relationship we have. About all we went through as band mates and friends.”

The best lyric you have ever written:

“I think it’s hard to choose properly but I’m very proud of some lyrics I wrote on a song from our previous project (The Distroy), called “Lost Along The Way”. It was a real intense text to me.”

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

“The best feeling ever!! (laughs). I think it’s a mix between adrenaline and a bit of pressure. But it’s all about excitement!! 2 seconds after walking on stage, it’s only adrenaline.”

The hardest track to play live:

“I think sometimes it’s “Unbreakable” because we often play this one at the end of the show, and this is a very intense song to sing, and very high, and when you tired from your show it can be a real fight to sing it properly!”

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

“My guitar picks!! (laughs). I always take with me a notebook, to be able to write new ideas, lyrics or whatever on the road. And I always have in my wallet a 4-leaf clover.”

Describe your fans in three words:

“Best / Fans / Ever”

A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:

“I guess it could be “Because” from The Beatles or “Blackbird”. Maybe also “The Show Must Go On” from Queen or “Sex On Fire” from Kings of Leon.”

What we can look forward to from your band this year:

“We’re about to release a new EP called “(Be)For Tomorrow”. It’s a prequel to our (already finished) album “For Tomorrow”. Since we were not able to defend the album on stage because of the worldwide situation, we wanted to give our audience something to wait and so came the idea of an EP. You’ll find 3 already released singles but also 2 unpublished tracks from the next album + 3 bonus Live unplugged tracks from our last filmed acoustic show. We’re trying to reschedule our 3rd european tour & 1st US tour + Central / Latin America. A new music video is about to be filmed. And we keep on recording new tracks and singles. As much as we can!!”
