Forgotten Songs – This Week – 9 Crimes

There are so many songs that are out there everywhere then all of a sudden they disappear and you only hear from them very rarely that they can create a sense of nostalgic for you, the listener. So roll up and welcome to Forgotten Songs where we celebrate these forgotten wonders.

9 Crimes Damien Rice

Today we are going to look at a track that you may recognise from many different television shows as it has been used as a backing track for many inckuing True Blood, Shrek The Third, Grey’s Anatomy and Jericho to name a few.

9 Crimes was a single released by Damien Rice on the 27th November 2006, it was also the furst single from his second studio album called 9. The song was written and produced and by Damien Rice and was released under the record label of Heffa and 14th Floor.

The sinngle was entered the charts in many countries, however only went into the top 10 in Belgium (7) and the US (5). It went into the charts in other countries as well but into the top 40 including Ireland (14), The Netherlands (39) and the UK (29).

Even though this is not one of his most popular tracks in the United Kingdom, I wanted to particularly mention this one quite selfishly because I actuallly really like this track. It is pretty slow track but it is a really pretty song and the additional lyrics sung by Lisa Hannigan makes it a really interesting track to listen to.
