In the Games Corner – MEMORY CARD EDITION -Gex: Undercover Gecko

Welcome to a new sister article to In The Games Corner that is about computer games but with a different spin. I have been playing computer games from a very young age and I find that some games when I think of them are attached to very strong memories. So, I thought it would be fun to share memories that I have attached to some of these games as there are a few. I wanted to call this feature Memory Card because a lot of my memories that i have strongly are around the Playstation 1 and there will be a few around that particular card. Today we take a look at Gex: Undercover Gecko

I cannot remember why or when we bought Gex 3D on the Playstation 1 but I do remember that it was a game that stood out from the rest. We used to rent and buy a lot of games and I think this was one that we just ended up buying not knowing a lot about it. We found it a bit random for the woman flirting with a cartoon character but if you ignore and accept the fact that it is based on James Bond the game itself it is so fun and one of the best platform games.

The thing I love about it is the themes of each level – they are so fun and it is always exciting to see the outfits that Gex wears in each level. It always feels like the levels expand because you have to do a different challenge everytime you enter them and you end up seeing so much more of the game. The challenges are good fun and also very silly which makes it even more enjoyable.

There are a few levels that are my favourite – the first level in the snow is just so silly and full of exciting little bits that it makes it a really great play. The pirate level is difficult but there is so much to see that you try to forget how hard it is so you can enjoy what you are watching. The Egyptian level was so difficult as a kid that it was such an accomplishment when it was completed and finally the Sherlock Holmes level was a bit scary as a kid but also full of lots of surprises along the way.

I really wish they made more of these games as he was such a great character and he is sorely missed.
