Have you ever wanted To listen to a new band or musician and not sure where to start? Well, instead of listening to their commercial music, why not start with something off the album first! Today we look at the brand new album by The Offspring that was released last week – Let The Bad Times Roll
This Is Not A Utopia
This is the opening of the album and it is a grand Offspring welcome to this brand new album. The track is punchy with bold lyrics and strong guitar riffs that any Offspring fan will be excited to hear. While the songs lyrics feel quite powerful the song is catchy and has a hint of the nostalgic bands style which remind me of Americana. It is a short track but it is a great one to start the album with and makes you aware that the band are well and truly back with a bang.
Breaking These Bones
This track is fast paced full of lots of rhythm that will get your toe tapping along, it starts with this really catchy and striking drum beat that really sets the beat for the track. It is really nice to hear a song that has this really fast beat throughout that is consistent as you don’t tend to hear songs like this anymore. The song is a great addition to the Offspring catalogue and the guitar melodies throughout gives this track a really catchy impact.
We Never Have Sex Anymore
This is a very different sound compared to the other songs on the album and when you listen to the other albums from the band you realise that there is that odd track that has it’s only unique sound and this is definitely one of those songs. It has a lot of influences from big swing band style music intertwined with this great punk rock sound. The song has a comedy effect to it and it is a fun track to have in the middle of the album.
This is the penultimate track on the album and it also one of the slowest where the piano is the star of the song, it is a lovely end to the album and has really emotional words to go with it. The song slowly builds up with strings accompanying as well, it is a completely different side to the band and has this really sadness to it that is in some ways really nice to hear from the band. I think as well with the world the way it was the last year these sort of lyrics could relate to a lot of people.
