Last year, we launched a brand new set of articles called The Magic of The Music Video which looks at videos that have inspired me as a Video Editor. Well, I thought I would bring that article to life in more ways then one by celebrating certain albums that some of those singles have come off of. Why do this you ask? Well, you may know the songs but may of never actually listened to the albums so welcome to this section of this feature that will happen throughout the year. In February we featured Waterparks so today we are looking at today at the album where Easy To Hate came from – Fandom
This is the opening track on the album and has an electronic feel that is intertwined with a heavy rock guitar which really does welcome you to the world of Fandom because at more then one time it will delve into these two genres and mix them into something unique you haven’t heard before. It is a song that is short and sweet but it sets up the album and the themed perfectly.
“I Miss Having Sex But At Least I Don’t Wanna Die Anymore”
I was surprised to read that this song was not actually an official single because it has become a track that is an anthem for this band and is one of the songs that is most sung along to at their gigs. It has a real acoustic guitar feel to this song that feels like it could fall into the genre of pop. The lyrics are easy to sing along to and the chorus is really catchy. Even though the song comes across as quite jolly if you listen to the lyrics there is a lot of more serious issues being discussed.
This song hits you with a punch, it has a really striking electronic drum beat that reels you in straight from the start and makes you want to wait for the chorus that has a really unique key change that brings the whole track together. It is a really unique sounding track and whilst it has elements of ‘rock’ to it there is also a sort of remix of electronic and pop which creates this really catchy song. It could easily of been a single. The part I am a fan of is near the end after the bass solo as it gets more harder the guitar riffs and creates this really dramatic part of the song that is really interesting to listen to.
