Off The Record – ALBUM FOCUS – Internet Killed The Rock Star, MOD SUN

Have you ever wanted To listen to a new band or musician and not sure where to start? Well, instead of listening to their commercial music, why not start with something off the album first!  Today we look at the album that was released by MOD SUN on the 12th February – Internet Killed The Rock Star

Betterman

This is the first song to play after the singles that MOD SUN has already released, this song has a real punk rock feel to it with an uplifting drum and guitar beat. It has the elements of what I feel the new punk rock age has and if you listen to music by artists by acts such as Machine Gun Kelly then you will notice a sort of familiarity. The drum beat is catchy and reels you into this song and then the guitar melodies throughout sort of bring this altogether.

TwentyNUMB

This song starts off with a really jolly melody that feels to me that it has influences from Ska mixed into punk rock. It has a really addictive drum beat and feels like a really fun track for summer. The song has a set of lyrics as well that intertwine with the theme and create this really bouncy and punchy track.

Rollercoaster

This song feels like it is a pretty personal track, I am not sure how true the lyrics are but in regardless, it takes you on a journey that is emotional and sort of intense. This song is a lot slower and has a mellow feel to it where the rock elements of it intertwine in and out ever so often to emphasise certain lyrics. Clever track and the music feels like it is taking you on a ‘rollercoaster’ metaphorically.

Internet Killed The Rockstar

The album finishes with the album track which is an unusual decision but when you hear it, the track kind of makes sense it sort of concludes the journey that you have gone on through the album. It is an anthem that is uplifting and whilst it is acoustic it really sort of I guess defines this chapter of music. It is also a song that allows to hear the talent of Ryan and his voice. A great little track.
