Off The Record – EP Focus – Bridges, Sid

Have you ever wanted To listen to a new band or musician and not sure where to start? Well, instead of listening to their commercial music, why not start with something off the album first!  Today we look at the brand new EP by Sid – Bridges

Bridges

If you are fan of piano lead pop songs then this is a song that you are going to love, it is a song that has this melodic and emotional feel to it as the track takes you on a journey. The echo sound throughout creates this really interesting depth to the track and makes you really listen to the complexity of the words and the music of the track. The Ep has themes focussing on Sid’s move from Mumbai to London and I feel that the music in this track feels like it is painting a picture whilst also creating metaphors of these emotions of a journey.

Connection

The echo feeling continues on this track but to me it feels like you are sort of travelling through this one big narrative of this journey and whilst all the songs are fun to listen to individually, when you listen to them one after another it feels like you are exploring the thoughts and feelings from the start to finish. The lyrics to this song are all about the connections and it feels like it is about the emotions and reactions you get when you make the move to somewhere new. This song is more mellow then the track before and has this dreamlike feeling to it.

Fire

This song is the slowest on the EP and the piano is the star of this track as it creates the emotion that you need. The main focus on this track is the vocals and it is clear that the choice to make them louder then the musical backing is deliberate so that they are emphasised which is a really clever move.
