This month we are taking a look at a completely different angle at the subject of food in the USA. Food isn’t something you can just eat, it is also something you can now wear, use or even have it as a scent. One of the most crazy things I think I have seen myself was when I was in Chicago airport, and there was Bacon flavored toothpaste. Since that day in 2011 I’ve been fascinated with what else is out there. So this month I thought we would look at some of the unusual products on the market.
EAU DE FRENCH FRY SOAP
In 2019 Del Taco released a very unusual flavored soap that was launched to celebrate a new product that was being released at the fast food chain in March.
Del Taco is an American fast food chain that specializes in American Style Mexican Cuisine. Some of the items on the menu include tacos, burritos and quesadillas. They have 580 stores in areas such as Oklahoma, Cedar Park, Edmund and Houston to name a few.
Eau De French Fry was a soap bar that apparently smells like Del Tacos crinkle-cut fries. The soap box says it will make you ‘smell as Exquisite as the world famous fries.’ You could purchase the set for four dollars five dollars or six dollars depending on what size you wanted.
On the day of release it sold out pretty much straight away. The idea of the soap originally came around as it was too difficult to create scented dryer sheets. The promotion apparently helps the Brand’s break through to reach new customers. Some people who bought the soap then re-sold it on Ebay for $100.
