Forgotten Songs! – This Week – Lazy

There are so many songs that are out there everywhere then all of a sudden they disappear and you only hear from them on cheesy countdowns run by music channels over Christmas if you are lucky.

So roll up and welcome to Forgotten Songs where we celebrate these forgotten wonders.

Lazy- X Press 2 feat David Byrne

Sometimes in life there are bands or groups you don’t follow and then ever so often they release a track that you really enjoy and you forget about it only until someone randomly hear it again on a random Spotify playlist. Well this is what happened to me with this particular track.

Lazy was a single by British House duo XPress 2 and featured the vocals of the Talking Heads frontman David Byrne. The single was released on the 11th March 2002, it was written by both musicians and was released under the record label of Skint.

Apparently David Byrne approached XPress2 to ask them to be his backing band but they initially turned down the offer. When they did decide to work together, David recorded his lyrics at home in New York and sent them as an email attachment.

The song did really well in the UK Charts and went in at number 2 and it stayed in the top 10 for four weeks. It didn’t make number 1 as Gareth Gates held onto the top spot with Unchained Melody.

I really liked this song, it was so unique and different to a lot of things at the time that it was something that really stood out. It was so catchy and that is why I liked it.
