Today we look at a computer game that was released in 1995 and had similarities to the 1989 arcade game Plotting. Zoop was released on the Sega Genesis on the 20th of October 1995. It was developed by Hookstone Productions, Panel Camp and Electric Spectacles Productions.
The game you play as a triangle that is in the middle of a screen. Around the centre square that the triangle is in there is a line of shapes that come in from different sides of the screen. The aim of the game is to clear the gems before they enter into the square. If the player shoots the item that is the same color as the triangle it will be zooped (cleared). If the player hits an item that is a different color triangle, it won’t be cleared. It will change the color.
The aim of the game is to shoot as many items as you can to reach the Zoop goal. When you progress through the game, the levels speed up. The bigger the level gets the background becomes more distracting.
The game did not receive favorable reviews instead it was criticized for having bad sound and being a game that is a lot of work.
