Off The Record – ALBUM REVIEW – VELVET, Adam Lambert

Have you ever wanted To listen to a new band or musician and not sure where to start? Well, instead of listening to their commercial music, why not start with something off the album first!  Today we look at the album released by Adam Lambert – VELVET

Stranger You Are

It is great to have a new Adam Lambert album as is it great to hear just how powerful this artists voice is all over again. This is the first track on the album that is not a single and it is really catchy. It has a fantastic funky sound to it that is fun and allows Adam to play around with his vocals to create this really interesting concept as a song. The brass instruments that intertwine throughout the song are really catchy and bring the song to a whole another level.

Roses feat Nile Rodgers

This song feels like a mixture of funk and soul and it is a really catchy song, it sounds different to other tracks on the album but the good thing about Adam is that his voice can adapt to so many genres that anything actually works. The lyrics are really good in this song and the song allows you to pay attention to what is being sung. Having Nile Rodgers play on the track really heightens the song and creates a fantastic musical composition for the song,

Closer To You

This song automatically reeled me in because of the fact that the piano is the star of this song and it creates a wonderful break in the album. The lyrics are beautiful and the fact that the music has been kept simple underneath the words means that it creates the emotion that you can hear throughout in the singing. Very clever and wonderful song.

Love Don’t

This song is bold, it is punchy and the guitars are leading the way with the striking sound of this song. The verse and the chorus are clearly defined throughout as the song gets really powerful when the chorus hits. It has a sense of elements from older Adam songs and to me I can hear mirrored sounds of his debut album and it is fantastic. A very catchy song.
