What’s Luv? – Joe Featuring Ashanti.

Today we look at a song that was everywhere when it was released, I remember everyone used to sing the chorus as it was really catchy however it sort of then disappeared. It was only when my friend played some Ashanti the other month that I remembered this song and couldn’t believe I forgot about it.

What’s Luv? was a single that was released by Rapper Fat Joe and featured the RnB star Ashanti, it was released on the 5th October 2001. The single was released under the labels Terror Squad, Atlantic and Warner and produced by Irv Gotti and Chink Santana. The song is the second single from Fat Joes fourth studio album Jealous Ones Still Envy (J.O.S.E).

The song samples a section of Tina Turners song Whats Love Got To Do With It and is looped over and over again throughout. The song did really well on the charts – it went to number 2 on the Billboard 100 and it did really well internationally as well it reached the top 5 in the UK, Australia and parts of Europe.

It was fun to hear this song again and I forgot how fun it actually was, it is a song that really defines what the sort of music was like in the early noughties and was sort of like a nostalgic hit to hear it again.
