In The Games Corner – Virtual Bart, SNES

On this website we have taken a look at a lot of different Simpson video games, well this weekend we take a look at another – this time where Bart Simpson is the hero! Virtual Bart was a single player computer game for Super Nintendo Entertainment System that was released in 1994. It was developed by Sculptured Software and published by Acclaim Entertainment.

The computer game is focused around the world of virtual reality. Bart Simpson attends a science fair and decides to check out the Virtual Reality exhibition, however when he enters it he is warped into a land of virtual worlds and he is only allowed out of the exhibition when he escapes all the levels.

The game is set out like a platform game an you have to get out of the virtual worlds before you loose all your lives. If you dies then the game is over and you have to start all over again. To access the levels Bart gets spun around on a circular platform and ti chooses what worlds he goes to. There are many different activities you have to do such as throw tomatoes at Principal Skinner, Driving a motorbike and even being a pig escaping a butcher!

The game received negative reviews as it was hard to control and the game as a whole felt like it was ‘rushed.’ Critics said that because of the faults it meant that as a whole it felt unappealing.
