Forgotten Songs! – This Week – Maybe

There are so many songs that are out there everywhere then all of a sudden they disappear and you only hear from them on cheesy countdowns run by music channels over Christmas if you are lucky.

So roll up and welcome to Forgotten Songs where we celebrate these forgotten wonders.

Maybe – Emma Bunton

Back in the early noughties Emma Bunton had a solo music career and there was a song that had a very retro 60’s feel to it and that song was called Maybe. This song was a track that was released on the 13th October 2003. It was from her second studio album called Free Me which was released in 2004. Maybe was written by Emma Bunton and Yak Bondy, it was producded by Mike Peden and released under the record label of 19.

The song has a musical melody that is obviously influenced by Bosa Nova style of music. In an interview with Emma it stated that the song was also inspired by a ‘soundtrack album of the 1970s German porn music’. The song did relatively well in the UK charts and peaked at number 6. The song hit the top 40 charts in Sweden, Italy, Ireland and the US as well.

Out of all the songs that Emma Bunton released as a solo song, this is the one I enjoy the most. It comes with a fun music video (as seen above) and the song has a mleody that when you listen to it, its hard to get out of your head.
