Welcome to a brand new feature that is going to run for this month – this April we are going to celebrate the world of Books! The last few weeks and months we have all been part of a weird world to say the least so this month we thought it would be nice to talk about something that allows you to escape even if it just for a chapter at a time. So this month we are taking on the 30 Day Book Challenge and looking at a different topic each day, enjoy!
Day 22: Favourite Book You Own
NAME OF BOOK: My Autobiography, Charlie Chaplin
I was on a day out, I think it was when I lived up North or at the beach in the south but all I remember is that I was in an Oxam Bookshop, a place I don’t usually go as I find their books are extortionate prices but I thought lets have a look anyway. This is where I discovered that Charlie Chaplin had an autobiography. I never knew he had written one and regardless of the price, I had to have it.
It took me ages to read as the pages are so thin so it was also a matter of making sure I was careful with it. It is such a great read and a fascinating look at comedy history and the Victorian era that you can really have picture painted in your head. It is really well detailed and takes you on a journey.
I love the fact that I have a physical copy of this book as it really goes with the time in history. It sits on the book shelf in between lots of other classics. I am not sure if I will be reading it again but that is not the point, it is just a really interesting book and is truly a great classic.
