Taste Of States – This Week – Cheeseburger Pizza

Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.

Re-inventing the way we experience cheeseburgers or pizza is not a new thing – it has been happening for years and this is evident with the amount of burger or pizza restaurants that have popped up throughout the years. However, one particular fast food chain realised that an old menu meal was popular that they brought it back to the menu by popular demand. In 2018, Papa John’s brought back the Cheeseburger pizza after four years of it being absent.

The Cheeseburger Pizza was originally available in 2014 but after requests coming in left, right and centre on their social media pages the pizza company decided to bring it back for a limited time. So, what exactly is a Cheeseburger Pizza?

The pizza was a 14inch large size that had a sauce base of ‘zest burger sauce’. The pizza is then topped with Mozzarella, ground beef, tomatoes and dill pickles. To purchase the Cheeseburger Pizza it would of cost $12.

Now, if you eat Papa Johns in the UK you may be familiar with the fact that in 2018 they also released this too.

The American version was 22g of fat and from the reviews that I have read it got reasonably positive reviews with critics saying that the pickle is the highlight and makes the pizza taste like a burger.
