When you go to a coastline of an island or a country, the main thing that people look for is a great viewing point where you can get that fantastic photograph for your memories. Well, why not go to one that does that whilst also giving you a bit of a thrill at the same time?
Miradouro do Cabo Girão or the Skywalk as it is also called, is located a 2 minute walk just outside of the village Cabo Girão which is in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos. So what makes this Skywalk different to others? Well, it has a completely glass floor that you can walk over – it’s not for the faint hearted or anyone that suffers from vertigo.
The Skywalk is 580 meters above sea level and is free for tourists to visit. The viewing point allows you to have stunning views of the cliffs and sea below which allowed you to both take great photographs whilst also appreciate the coastal structure.
When I went to Madeira, I visited this tourist attraction and found walking on a see through platform over a huge drop was incredibly surreal and also very weird. It takes a while to adjust to the unusual feeling but once you get used to it, you can truly appreciate it. The view and beauty of the coastal is wonderful and on a clear day you can see for miles.
