Media Madness – This Week – All About Comedy

Due to the popularity of Question Roulette the past few years, I thought it was time to jump to another book with lots of questions. This time the book is called Music Madness Mayhem – the book covers everything from film, television, music, and much more! So every week we will be covering questions from the book until we run out! I am not going to number them this time as I am going to be doing the book in a random order!

Topic of the week – Comedy

Best sitcom

Big Bang Theory – I love this show it is sort of is a comfort blanket for me as I have seen it so many times and use it to also fall asleep when I need to relax. Also I have been to so many countries where this show has played and have seen it in so many languages that I know it inside out.

The Office – I love the US Office, mainly because I am a huge fan of Steve Carrell and the show is so good. I can watch it over and over again. There are so many great quotes and so many great moments – I love the fact that there is now a Office Podcast looking at all episodes in depth as it makes the show all that much more magical.

Friends – I don’t think I need to explain this one very much, it is just a classic, it is a show that you cannot get bored of and it will always be like a comfort blanket full of comedy fun.

Vicar of Dibley – It doesn’t matter how many times I see this show it always makes me laugh, it is British Comedy at it’s greatest. Every character is fantastic and it is such a fun show.

Best Comedians

Lee Evans – There is no other comedian like Lee Evans, there is no other comic who can create so many characters or have so much energy on stage that he really is in a league of his own. I am so grateful I got to see Lee live before he retired he was everything I expected and so much more.

Ricky Gervais – No matter what you think of Ricky Gervais stand up, you have to admit that he is a phenomenal writer and there is no one who can create comedy out of the topics that he does. I have seen Ricky Gervais live and he was very good, I find his comedy writing also outstanding.

Jame Acaster – I find that James is sort of like Marmite to a lot of people – you either love his sort and style of comedy, or you hate it. It took me a while at first to like James’ comedy but once I realised what he was doing it made me laugh a lot. I discovered him through the Josh Widdicombe podcast where he was being himself and not his on stage persona so going into his stand knowing what he is like normally made me find it easy to adapt to his sense of humour.

Want To See

Dane Cook – I have listened to Dane Cooks stand up routines so much on Spotify that I even know what the punchlines are to most jokes. His comedy may be rude but I find it very funny and find him in my list of favourite American Comedians. Watching his live shows also was interesting because his fans treat him like a rock star and have never seen this before with a comedian.

Amy Poehler – I find that Amy is sort of similar to Dane’s style of stand up and I really like it as I find that Amy pushes boundaries as to how a woman performs comedy and it is fantastic. She has some really funny routines and if you haven’t seen them, definitely give them a watch or a listen.

Steve Martin – I have listened to Steve Martin’s stand up on Spotify a lot of times and I have watched his special on Netflix and I think it would be so fun to see this comedy legend live! He is so talented and also you are delighted by Banjo playing as well throughout the set which would be a lot of fun!
