There are so many songs that are out there everywhere then all of a sudden they disappear and you only hear from them on cheesy countdowns run by music channels over Christmas if you are lucky.
So roll up and welcome to Forgotten Songs where we celebrate these forgotten wonders.
Real To Me – Brian McFadden
Everyone associates Guy Chambers writing to Robbie Williams, well there are other pop stars that he has done this for including ex-Westlifer Brian McFadden. In 2004, Brian returned to the spotlight after breaking Westlife fans hearts after saying he was leaving the band.
Real To Me was written by Guy Chambers, David Sandow and Brian McFadden, it was produced by Guy Chambers and Richard Flack. The song was the debut single off of Brian’s debut album which was called Irish Son that was also released in the same year. The single Real To Me was released on the 6th September 2004 and it did really well in the charts.
Real To Me went to number 1 in many countries including Denmark, Ireland, Norway and the UK. The single in the United Kingdom sold 35,435 copies in it’s first week and it knocked Nelly off the top spot.
Listening to it now sounds like I only heard it yesterday, it hasn’t really aged and it is still as cheesy as I remember. I was never a fan of this song but I remember that it was a more mature sound for the musician. Also he carries and plays the guitar here and there throughout the video – always a sign a musician is trying to not be compared to their boyband days.
