There are so many songs that are out there everywhere then all of a sudden they disappear and you only hear from them on cheesy countdowns run by music channels over Christmas if you are lucky.
So roll up and welcome to Forgotten Songs where we celebrate these forgotten wonders.
Party People – Nelly featuring Fergie
Today we look at a song that was a collaboration between two of the biggest names in R&B, Nelly and Fergie. Party People was released on the 18th March 2008 under the record label of Derrty and Universal Motown. The song was originally intended to appear of Fergie’s debut album The Dutchess and it was meant to feature Chamillionaire. The song was played to Nelly who wanted to use the beat in a song.
The song did well internationally as it went to number 14 in the UK, number 7 in New Zealand, Number 12 in Ireland and 23 in Germany. The song reached 37 in the US Billboard Pop 100. The music video has had over 37 million views on Youtube.
It was nice to hear this song again after all these years and whilst I like it, I personally do not feel it is the best song either Nelly or Fergie have done. I enjoy the beat and enjoy listening to it as it makes a fun dance tune but I don’t find it as strong as others.
