Lay’s Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup Flavoured Crisp
At the end of 2019, it was announced that Lays was going to release a brand new flavour to their collection – Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup flavour. On the 21st October of last year, they crisp were released into stores and you could purchase them for $3.49.
The aim of the crisp was to create the ultimate comfort food style crisp that tasted of “a dynamic combination of tomato taste and buttery cheese with underlying creamy and toasted notes” (from the press release). The reason that Lays were releasing a new flavour in October was to celebrate the redesign of their crisp bags as it was the first new look in 12 years.
It was also the launch of a new social media venture as well to try and get their audiences to engage with the crisps – they could go to the website Gotta Have Lays and take a selfie with the new bag designs to win a chance to have a year of crisp.
The reviews for this flavour are positive but some say they taste like pizza instead. Others really liked the cheesy flavour with the tomato and felt it created the ultimate comfort food.
