Hello Tim firstly how have you been since we last spoke?

I’m great! I was doing Voldemort and the Teenage Hogwarts Musical Parody when last we spoke and I was just starting the launch of my hour of stand-up. Now I’ve done my solo show all around the U.S. I’ve performed in Washington D.C., Atlanta, Orange County, Sandusky, Columbus, Fort Lauderdale and I sold out Chicago, LA and NYC!

What were some of your highlights of the end of 2019?

Getting to originate a role in Voldemort for it’s London debut was truly a dream come true and betting on myself that if I did a full solo show people would come! It’s been very scary and exciting.

So, new year lots of shows! Tell us about the one’s happening in the UK!

I’m doing three shows in my four day visit! On January 19th I’ll be performing at UK DragCon with my good Judy Danny Franzese (Damian from the movie Mean Girls), on January 20th I have my hour of stand-up “Wait… Let’s Have Fun!”, which also features Danny Franzese and then I’m opening for him on January 21st for his hour of stand-up. Both of our solo shows are at Hen and Chickens Theatre Pub.

We have to talk about Dragcon as well that’s really cool that you are performing there as well? What can people expect?

I’m so excited about DragCon! Danny Franzese and I performed at LA DragCon this year as well and it was so fun! We are part of the stand-up panel so we will be doing live comedy. Expect some drag adjacent looks and lots of laughs!

Who are some of your favourite drag artists and why?

Trixie Mattel is really IT for me. She came on my podcast (Slumber Party with Tim Murray and Peter Kim) to talk about what a true work horse she is and I just love that no matter what she is doing she is having fun and making people laugh. She has found that perfect balance of professionalism and silliness that I strive for! I also die for Trinity the Tuck and Bob the Drag Queen. To me Trinity is drag excellence: the looks, the poise, the lip syncs! And no one makes me laugh as hard as Bob. I’ve been watching her shows for years. Also, look out for my former roommate and dear friend Brita Filter. She is a queen to watch!

So it’s a new year! What are your comedy resolutions?
I want to perform a 5 minute set on Comedy Central Comics to Watch and book at least ten more tour stops.

You were part of the extremely successful Hogwarts musical last year are yourreturning this year?

Voldemort was really one of the most special and exciting things I’ve ever been a part of and it keeps growing. We just recorded a demo album of a couple songs in LA. I’d love to do it again… we shall see!

It’s a new decade as well what would you like to see happen to comedy in the next ten years?

What a fantastic questch! (Short for question. Dang, now I’ve typed it all out and that abrev really was pointless). I want to see as many LGBTQ comedians, POC comedians and female comedians have specials as straight white dudes. There are lots of comics I love coming up right now and when I scroll through Netflix to find a comedy special I’d love to watch Patti Harrison for an hour, Naomi Ekperigan for an hour and Catherine Cohen for an hour. I love love love Jim Gaffigan and a lot of the people we see when you type in “stand-up” on a streaming platform, but female comedians tend to be the people who make me bust a gut laughing. And I want to bust my guts in this decade!

What three things are you looking forward to about performing in this show?

1) Seeing my friends from Voldemort again

2) Performing in London again! I freaking love London!

3) Hanging with my girl Queen Liz. We’ve been tight for years and she’s absolutely obsessed with my comedy! And I want to hear her gossip about Megxit. Sorry to brag about my relationship with your queen, but I had to give my girl a shout out.

How do you warm up before a show?

I run the show out loud start to finish. With stand-up it’s all about cleanliness. So I like to make sure the words are coming out in a way that will sell the joke and its all fresh in my noggin.

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

@TMuray06 on Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. If you like Drag Race content and memes of pop culture you’ll like my pages haha.

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

Sold out run!

If you could have any three people (dead or alive) over for dinner – who would they be?

Flaura, Fauna and Merryweather (the three fairies from Sleeping Beauty). Imagine the chaos!

What’s the best piece advice you’ve received?

“If they ask you to take your top off make sure you get the money first”

 Do you have any pets?

Yes, my boyfriend Michael.

If you could be from any other decade (or era), which would it be??

The 1990’s. I’m so so so so so so so young. I simply can not imagine what the 90’s were like. Wish I could have experienced that!! I was born in 2012. 😉

If you had to have a tattoo to represent improv what would you have and why?

It would be a tramp stamp above my butt that said “Don’t Deny!”

What’s on your music playlists right now?

I’ve been listening to a lot of Brandi Carlile

Who would play you in the movie of your life?

Florence Pugh. Because I am an Amy March.

If you had one superpower, what would it be?

To make people follow me on instagram.
