On the 14th January, The Phoenix Remix is hosting it’s first ever live show and over the next few weeks we sit down with some of the acts that are performing at the show to find out more about them and what they have in store for the audience. Today we talk to hip hop based improv troupe Track 96.

Hello tell us about your troupe and three unknown facts!

We’re an improv group that, based on audience suggestions, creates a world of rhyme and rhythm. We freestyle on the spot and, as improvisers, invent a story/scene that audiences can connect with.

Three unknown facts:

We started by having vegan food and rapping in a London flat. We called it Rhyme and Dine and it was orchestrated by our very own Carsten!

While we won’t give it away, our name has something to do with a major improv venue in London – we’ll let you figure that out!

We’ve been known to be so passionate about rapping, even toilet breaks haven’t gotten in our way. If you have questions about this one, let us know…we’d be happy to explain in person 😉

You are performing at the first-ever Phoenix Remix Live how are you feeling about it?

We can’t wait! The Phoenix Remix is the go-to source for what’s going on in the improv and comedy scene. Now, using their extensive knowledge, are producing a show! It will be one to remember and we’re honoured to have been included.

What do you have in store for the audience as part of your set?

We have something new in store, that audiences haven’t seen before.

To get started we’ll ask the audience a question, that is, to get a suggestion.

We’ll then make up stories on the spot, told with rhymes that are super hot.

They’ll be in for a treat, watching this improv show with a hip-hop beat.

Why did you decide to do the show?

Simple. The Phoenix Remix, one of the best comedy/entertainment websites, is producing a show that is helping a fantastic cause. Who wouldn’t want to be part of it? We are super excited to be part of this and to share the stage with some fantastic groups!

What are some of your favourite parts of the Phoenix Remix website and why?

We love the Phoenix Remix’s show of the week! It is an amazing way to learn about different shows and teams. It gives you a real idea of what to expect in this ever-growing, diverse world of improv and comedy!

It is the month of January what are your new years resolutions for your improv this year?

We love sharing and promoting Hip Hop Improv. Last year we were able to offer 4 improv workshops and our goal for 2020 is to offer even more (and in more locations). The more people making stuff up while rhyming the better!

The show is also raising money for charity arts 4 dementia – why should people donate?

Dementia is the deterioration of everything we rely upon as improvisers; memory, thinking, and the ability to perform regular activities. Worldwide, around 50 million people have dementia, and there are nearly 10 million new cases every year. It is a big problem, so we should try and combat it. And, there is no better way of doing that than having a night of fun while raising desperately needed funds!
