At the beginning of each year we like to look at improv acts, nights and troupes that are goingto make an impact on the new year. So in the next week we speak to a few teams that are going into 2020 to make a bang. Today we talk to a troupe that are brand spanking new and are about to hit the ground running in the new year. Coached by Amy Cooke-Hodgson, I spoke to Bollyprov UK to find out all about them.
Hello guys tell us all about your improv troupe?
We’re Bollyprov an improvised Bollywood comedy! So expect drama… and possibly samosas.
How did your troupe come about?
Waleed came up with the idea, then after months and months of thinking about it and not doing anything (and with the support of Hoopla) he got a team together and Amy Cook Hodgson came on board as a coach and Bollyprov was born.
How did you get into improv?
The team itself was partly formed to get more diversity in improv, so we have some in the group who have acted but never improvised before, while others have been doing it for far too long!
What are your plans improv wise for 2020?
To do great improv, make lots of people laugh and maybe take it to the community and spaces that don’t normally see live performance.
What other improv acts are you looking forward to seeing to this year?
Shameless plugs for, Waleed’s groups Supreme Leader (FA house team) and Making up a Murderer (coming soon). Also Just Friends and The Staccatos (both at Hoopla) that the super talented Prathap is in.
What styles do you hope to see more of in improv this year?
Not a style but more DIVERSITY! please … and space work.
Do you have any new years resolutions? If so what are they?
Be more in the moment.
Are you on social media? If so how can people find out more about your troupe?
Bollyprov UK on all social media should answer all your questions!
Three words why people should come and see you this year?
Melodrama, glamour and melodrama.

The town red… but these days beds far more inviting.
