It has come to the point of the year when we celebrate all things music and take a look back on the year and what songs that it has provided us with. This year has been the year of the comeback, so many artists have returned to the music scene and have had huge hit singles in doing so. Today we have a look at the last ten in our list of greatest songs of 2019.
21) Darkside – Blink-182
This year saw the return of punk rockers Blink-182 with their second album release with Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba. The album they released this year was called Nine as it is technically the ninth release by the band if you include the EP Buddha. The song was released at the end of July and was the fourth single from the album.
22) Dear Future A Self (Hands Up) – Fall Out Boy
This year also saw the return of Fall Out Boy to the music scene as well and this time they brought along rapper Wyclef Jean along for the ride as well. The single was released on the 10th September and was from their latest Greatest Hits album – Believers Never Die Volume Two.
23) Drugs – Falling In Reverse
There were a lot of come backs this year and a lot of this last part of this feature is talking about them all. This year saw also the world of collaborations and one of these happened to be Falling In Reverse with Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor. The music video has been mentioned a lot for being ‘disturbingly violent’ so we will not be showing it but here is the audio.
24) Fire, Ready, Aim- Green Day
They are already one of the bands that are leading the new ‘trend’ that is happening to many tours next year ( big groups coming together for one huge night) and they also returned with a corker of new music that is set to be released off their new album which is set to drop early next year. This song was not only a single but it also went alongside the opening of the new NHL season.
25) Lights Up – Harry Styles
One Direction fans have been waiting a long time for this one and their wishes were answered when Harry Styles returned to the music scene with this brand new single, later announcing a new album and a new tour. Lights up was released in October and was promoted with lots of tease Billboard posters that were later revealed were used to promote this song. The music video has had over 36 million views online.
26 Original Me – YUNGBLUD
This year was a great year for Yungblud as he had an EP that did exceptionally well in the charts and scored 4-5 stars with critics and he is only 22! His music is becoming a voice of a generation and this year has seen him play out sold out shows as well as collaborate with some huge names, this single has one of them. This song is a collaboration with the lead singer of Imagine Dragons Dan Reynolds and was even performed on the Stephen Colbert Show.
27) O-Zone – New Politics
Another band that returned to the music scene this year was Danish band New Politics and the first song off their new album was called O-Zone. The album is called An Invitation to an Alternate Reality delves into the world of different dimensions and is a new angle for the musicians.
28) 3 To Tango – Pitbull
This year Pitbull released new music and one of the most surprising videos to some was the one that went along with this song because it featured John Travolta. For the whole video you think it is Pitbull and then there is a reveal near the end. Just like a lot of Pitbulls songs this video has done well with over 14 millions hits on Youtube.
29) Doubt It – The Amazons
In July of this year, the indie band The Amazons released their single Doubt It which came with a creepy style video. The single was off their second album Future Dust.
30) Senorita – Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello
Canadian singer Shawn Mendes has had a really successful year and one of the songs that did really well was this one. Released in May 2019, Senorita features Camila Cabello and was the lead single from his second album. The song did really well and went to number one in over 15 countries and even went 5x Platinum in Canada. The song won numerous awards including The Song Of 2019 at the People’s Choice Awards and best collaboration at the MTV Video Music Awards.
