30 Best Songs Of 2019 – Part 1

It has come to the point of the year when we celebrate all things music and take a look back on the year and what songs that it has provided us with. This year has been the year of the comeback, so many artists have returned to the music scene and have had huge hit singles in doing so. Today we have a look at the first ten in our list of greatest songs of 2019.


1)  Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored – Ariana Grande 

In February this year, Ariana Grande released this song from her fifth studio album, the music video was released the same day as the single. The song did really well around the world and went to number 1 in 7 countries including the UK. It received 3x Platinum in Canada, as well as Platinum status in Australia, New Zealand, Poland and the UK. The music video has had over 307,000,000 views on Youtube as well.


2) I Don’t Care – Ed Sheeran feat Justin Bieber

This year, Ed Sheeran released an album that was full of lots of different collaborations with musicians and one of them was with none other than Justin Bieber.  The song was released on the 10th May of this year and it had a staggering success going to number one in 26 countries. The most staggering statistic is for Canada as it went Platinum 5X in Canada and just like Ariana, this video has had a lot of views on Youtube.


3) Sucker – Jonas Brothers

This year has seen the return of many bands to the spotlight after a long break and one of the comebacks that caught one of the biggest attention was the reunion of The Jonas Brothers. The first single they released in six years was released the 1st March 2019 and the video starred all of their wives as well. It went to number in in over 10 countries and also went 3x Platinum in Australia too.


4) Bury A Friend – Billie Eilish

The beginning of this year saw the release of the fifth single off of her debut album – Bury A Friend. The song was co-wrote by Billie and her brother Finneas O’Connell. Throughout the dark and violent lyrics, Billie sings from the perspective of a monster underneath someones bed. The song received positive reviews and did really well in the charts worldwide including number 1’s in Israel, Sweden and US Alternative Billboard songs.


5) Send Her To Heaven – The All American Rejects 

This year saw the return as well of a Rock band that has also been out of the limelight for quite a while – It was released in July 2019 and was part of the EP called Send Her To Heaven. The song was a writing combination between Tyson Ritter and Rivers Cuomo of Weezer.


6) Juice – Lizzo

If there is someone that has been making her name heard this year then it is none other than Lizzo. The song Juice was released on the 4th January 2019 and it was the third single from her debut album. The song was welcomed with positive reviews and described as uplifting. The song did really well worldwide and sold 1,000,000 copies in the United States alone.


7) Hold Me While You Wait – Lewis Capaldi

He is a musician that is making a really strong name for himself and in May of this year he released this single. The song was written apparently about the uncertainty of being in a relationship. The song did well and it went to number one in Ireland and the Scottish Charts. Lewis made history as he held the number 1 and 2 in the Scottish charts since Ed Sheeran.


8) Giant – Calvin Harris, Rag’n’Bone Man 

 

At the beginning of the year, Calvin Harris released a collaboration with Rag’n’Bone man that was hard to escape as it was played pretty much everywhere. The single peaked at Number 2 on the UK Charts and stayed there for 5 consecutive weeks. The song did really well worldwide and went to number one in  over 11 countries.


9 Drug – Simple Creatures

This year didn’t just see the reunions of bands it also saw the formation of new bands by members of different groups coming together to test out new content. One of the new formations was Simple Creatures which was a side project by Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 and Alex Garskarth of All Time Low. Already this year they have released two EPs, as well as performing at sell out shows. 2020 there is talks about an album coming. So watch this space.


 

10) Who Do You Love – Chainsmokers featuring 5 Seconds of Summer

This was another song this year that was a collaboration – this time between two groups from Australia. This song was released on the 7th February this year and it was released through Sony Music. The song did well selling 1,000,000 copies in the US and going into the top 10 in many countries Worldwide. It has also had over 48 million views on Youtube.
