There are so many songs that are out there everywhere then all of a sudden they disappear and you only hear from them on cheesy countdowns run by music channels over Christmas if you are lucky.
So roll up and welcome to Forgotten Songs where we celebrate these forgotten wonders.
Red – Daniel Merriweather
There was a time where no matter where you turned, you could note escape this song, it was absolutely everywhere, it was a song that I initially didn’t like but because it was played so much it grew on me and I ended up finding it ok.
Red was the second single off of Daniel’s second album Love and War. The single was released on the 18th May 2009, it was released under the label Columbia and produced by Mark Ronson. The chart did quite well in the charts and reached number 5 in the UK and Denmark, number 9 in Ireland and number 65 in Australia. It gained Gold certification in both the UK and Denmark.
The single received mix reviews but gained praise for it’s emotional style and capturing feelings perfectly. Others were not too keen on the bridge but really like the chorus. The one thing that instantly comes to mind when I think about this song is the chorus and the songs ‘painted it red’ as it was the most iconic part of the song.
