Films have been based there, celebrities have got married there and when you visit Florence in Italy, it is not hard to see why people of Hollywood and tourists adore it. Florence is the Capital of the Tuscany region of Italy, it has a rich history and was a centre of medieval European trade and finance – this lead to it becoming one of the wealthiest cities in the area. Other reasons it is rich with history is that a lot of academics believe that is was the birthplace of the Renaissance. It has been an UNESCO World Heritage site since 1982.
There is so many wonderful sites to see in Florence but the one that you have to put on the top of your list is the Cattedrala di Santa Maria del Fiore. It is so impressive, I never personally went inside it but I didn’t need to as the outside is phenomenal and there is so much to see.
People visit Florence to go to the art museum Uffizi as it is the home to Michelangelo’s David Statue – I was only there for a day so didn’t get a chance to go in but if you do make sure you plan it and order your tickets in advance as it gets very busy with long queues.
I really liked walking around Florence, it is so picturesque and there is so much to see. One of the things I adored was Ponte Vecchio bridge as it is so unique and the little alleyways throughout. There is so much to see in Florence and I am sure that if you visit it, you will notice this as well.
