The Travel Book – The Outsiders, Edinburgh, Scotland

You are in Edinburgh and it’s lunchtime you are hungry and you want a really good, fresh tasting food to leave you satisfied and really happy. Well look no further and check out The Outsider.

The Outsider is located on George IV Bridge and is home to ‘laid back eating using fresh, seasonal produce in a split level space.’ Everyday the menu updates with specials that are available, however there are regulars on the menu such as Beef Burger with Orkney Cheddar, Steamed Mussels with Basil Cream and Smoked Trout. The kitchen is open 12-5 for lunch, 12-7 for the specials and 12-11 for a la carte. This is a restaurant that is always busy so book ahead if you know you are going.

I first went to The Outsiders in 2016 when I went to Edinburgh for the day with my friend who was over from Slovenia. We were in the area looking for the famous dog statue and started to look for somewhere to eat. It was the first place we walked by that looked really interesting and we went in. I had one of the specials and it was amazing.

When I went back to Edinburgh for the Fringe this year I went straight back to it for food as I wanted to go there again. Three years later and it still didn’t dissappoint. The staff are incredibly friendly, the food is still amazing and tasted so fresh and it was everything I remember. I had again had the daily special and it was so worth it. Also the quality of the food is very reasonably price for lunchtime.
