Off The Record – ALBUM FOCUS – This Is The Place EP, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds

Have you ever wanted To listen to a new band or musician and not sure where to start? Well, instead of listening to their commercial music, why not start with something off the album first!  Today we look at the latest E.P released by Noel Gallaghers band – This Is The Place EP, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds

This is the Place

This song has an electric feel it whilst intertwined with elements of different Genres. It may be the opening of this EP but it is quite mellow in its style the thing that stands out is the high clanging in the background which sounds like it could be something like bottles – it’s not but I am trying to paint a picture. This song takes you on a journey and the music construction intertwined with the lyrics are reason for this.

A Dream Is All I Need To Get By

This song has a very relaxed feeling to it and in some ways it reminds me of the band Toploader. This album has a very calm vibe to it and whilst the lyrics may be simple it still makes this sing quite striking. The drums are the highlights of this song as they construct the beat in many different ways.

Evil Flower

This song starts with a heavy bassline and a guitar  melody intertwined throughout – it is a lot heavier then the other songs on this E.P but also that is a good thing because it highlights the bands talents. I personally think this is the best song on the E.P as I really like the bassline. Just like the rest of the songs on this E.P it feels like you are being taken on a narrative journey.
